The Wisconsin Outdoors Alliance Foundation would like to thank the Wisconsin Friends of NRA for becoming a Theodore Roosevelt Sponsor of Wisconsin Outdoor Education Expo 2010. In addition to their $10,000 contribution, members of the NRA also donate their time at the Expo to help educate children about firearm safety.
A completely FREE "See-Touch-Do" experience for KIDS of ALL ages to ENJOY!
Four “See-touch-do” Expos have been held in Dodge County since 2006, attracting about 18,000 students, teachers and volunteers. Attendees interacted with the Expo’s many featured activities, including archery, wildlife and conservation heritage enrichment, team building, firearm safety, fishing, sporting dog demonstrations, and trail recreation.
From the beginning, the Wisconsin Outdoor Education Expo staff, sponsors, and volunteers have worked together to ensure this remains a free, fun, educational experience. In tough economic times, outdoor activities often offer low-cost, healthy alternatives to indoor hobbies; and the Expo is a free gateway into inspiring children to become active outdoor enthusiasts.
In addition to inspiring outdoor recreation, Expo staff collaborated with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and various other organizations to develop the camp activities and tie them to academic standards for subjects, such as math, science, history, and physical education.
From academic to conservation education, the Wisconsin Outdoor Education Expo offers diverse
activities for students, teachers, and chaperones. We have and will continue to welcome home school classes, public schools, private schools, and even individual families to this fun-filled, family-friendly event.
Due to the Dodge County-based Expo’s success and increasing interest, the Wisconsin Outdoors Alliance Foundation and its collaborators are pursuing a second Expo in Wausau. With the support of current statewide and future Wausau-based volunteers and sponsors, we hope to make this second event possible in summer 2011.
